Our Technology Platforms

Research projects are conducted under the scope of three Technology Platforms.  Each Platform ensures that linkage and synergy exist between projects.  Platform Projects are market-driven to ensure the maximum commercial impact is achieved for both partners and the grains industry as a whole.  The three plaforms are:

BioProcessing Technology Platform: Couples biochemistry with processing technology to enhance milling extraction rate and fractionation quality. The BioProcessing Platform is led by Dr Michael Southan, from BRI Australia Ltd.

Health Technology Platform: Utilises grain food processing, novel germplasm and phytochemistry to develop differentiated functional foods with improved health and nutritional characteristics. The Health Platform is led by Dr Ken Quail, from BRI Australia Ltd.

BioMolecular Processing Technology Platform: Couples genomics with an understanding of grain ultrastructure to increase milling quality and enhance the health and nutritional benefits of grains. The BioMolecular Processing Plaform is led by Professor Robert Henry from Southern Cross University.
