Nutrient data for food formulationsNutrient data for food formulations GrainData Online TM is an online information resource containing a comprehensive range of data on the nutritional content of over 166 grains and pulses. It is easy to use and fully searchable. The service is useful to food and feed formulators interested in developing new products and in supporting labeling claims.
This interactive database was developed for Grain Foods by Murdoch University's Centre for Comparative Genomics, in response to a defined industry need. The database web interface has recently been upgraded to facilitate searching. The database profiiles macro and micro nutrient content of grains, as well as their "non-nutrient" components. Users are able to compare selected nutrient values across different grains or pulses, or across sub fractions of grains such as flour. Data is presented visually in tables and graphs. References to the source materials are provided. The data available includes proximates, carbohydrates, amino acids, fats, fibre, minerals, fatty acids, sugars, vitamins, bioactive compounds and anti-nutrients. The data is sourced from peer reviewed journals in the public domain and other published sources.
The service was launched in February 2008 and is being promoted to professionals at food companies as well as to staff and students at universities with food science and courses.
Access to the database is free to registered users at the following link:
